Unknown facts about Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India-Part 1

1. Ram Mandir construction received green signal from Honourable Supreme Court after its landmark judgement dated November 9, 2019.


2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started the process of temple construction by performing bhumi puja in Ayodhya on 5th August 2020.  In bhumi puja, water of the holy rivers of the country and the soil brought from all the pilgrimage centers, various caste-tribal devotional centers and the houses of the sacrificial kar sevaks, made it seem as if the whole of India was present in the "Bhoomi Pujan". 


3. Built by:  Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust (SRJBTKshetra). It is set up by Government of India to construct the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya at Shri Ram Janmbhoomi. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced the Trust formation in Lok Sabha on 5th February, 2020. Out of 15 members, 12 members were nominated by the Government of India, rest 3 members were nominated. 

4. The responsibility of the architecture of the temple is on Chandrakant Sompura ji of Ahmedabad. He has been looking after the construction of Janmabhoomi temple since the year 1986. 


5. The Trust has chosen "Tata Consultant Engineers" as the consultant of the manufacturing company.

6. IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Chennai, IIT Guwahati, Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee are working on drawing a strong and durable foundation that can bear the weight of a 1000 year old stone temple. Engineers of Larsen & Toubro and Tata are consulting each other.

7. Salient features

Total Allocated Area: 70 Acres

Total Mandir Area: 2.7 Acres

Total Built Up Area: 1.3 Acre (57,400 sq.ft)

Construction cost: Rs 1,800 Crore

Construction Company: Larsen & Toubro

The entire temple will be made of stones. 

The temple will be three storeyed. 

Length: 360 feet

Width: 235 feet

Floor height: 16.5 ft from ground level

Height: 161 feet (the height of the peak of the sanctum sanctorum from the ground level)

Number of Floors: 3 (The height of each floor will be 20 feet)
