Significance of Indian festival Jamai Sasthi
1. Name of the fesival
Jamai Sasthi.
Jamai Sasthi is a traditional Bengali festival that is observed by Bengali communities worldwide as well as in West Bengal, India.
On this day Son in laws (Jamai) are honored by bride's house especially by Mother in law.

In the month of Jaishthya (May-June), it is observed on the sixth day of the Shukla Paksha (moon's waxing phase).
3. Celebration mode
The mothers-in-law perform a special puja (ritual) for their sons-in-law during Jamai Sasthi in order to obtain blessings for their happiness and prosperity.
As a sign of their love and gratitude, they give them gifts and new clothing.
A lavish feast made up of traditional Bengali dishes is also prepared by the mothers-in-law for their sons-in-law.
The sons-in-law are honored and pampered on this day of celebration.
